My name is Joel and I run life with ADD. This blog is my way to share with other ADD’ers how I have managed and dealt with the symptoms. While the disorder can be frustrating I believe that the effects of the disorder can be tamed and managed, and that those afflicted can have had a successful career and relationships.
ADD has been best described as living in a world of softly raining post it notes. Like many others, ADD began for me in childhood as I struggled maintaining attention through most of my childhood. My world changed in 2004 when I took my first Strattera – a drug created to treat the symptoms of ADD. The affects were nothing short of revolutionary – it was if time slowed down. With the drug I could comprehend whole conversations, win a game of poker, and study for more than 20 minutes at a stretch. Since then I have been both on and off the drug and I have spent years doing micro tests and fine tuning how to deal with symptoms of ADD or what I affectionately call the Fuzz.
Like many conditions there is a spectrum of manifestations of ADD. In this blog I speak to the Attention Deficit area and where I think I can provide the most insight. There is no silver bullet in treating the Fuzz but hopefully I can help provide one more data point to help manage your systems.
